Responsible Community Involvement…
Social concern and involvement in humanitarian causes are an integral
part of the SSQ Financial Group's corporate culture. Each year, our
financial contribution to social causes is at least 1% of the average
net income of the previous three years. However, this figure only
partially reflects the fervor of our organization and its members
to commit themselves to an array of community projects, small and
large, and to participate in the development of cultural organizations.
As a corporation, SSQ Financial Group participates in the
advancement of science and post-secondary education. Accordingly,
the Group made an important endowment to the Programme de médecine
d'expertise of the Université de Montréal, and another
to the Actuarial Chair of Université Laval. It also contributed
to the creation of a laboratory for a technical program in insurance
at the Cégep de Sainte-Foy.
…That Has Helped Us Shine
The Company received the Prix Affaires et engagement social jointly
conferred by Centraide Québec and the Chambre de commerce
et d'industrie du Québec métropolitain. This award
is for the exceptional commitment of a company and its personnel
to humanitarian causes and community development projects.
The Fondation SSQ
Dedicated to social causes, the Fondation SSQ resolved to pay homage,
in a permanent fashion, to the memory of Dr. Jacques Tremblay,
the founder of SSQ. As a result, it acquired and restored the
building in the Saint-Sauveur neighbourhood of Quebec, which was,
in the 1940s, the head office of the cooperative, Services
de santé de
Québec. As a responsible heir, the Fondation SSQ continues
to serve the community. One of the organization's non-profit services
is the Pignon Bleu, dedicated to helping young families in difficulty.
It occupies the ground floor of the building that wears the banner "La
Maison SSQ".
