Challenge
Reporting to the Customer Service Supervisor, the Representative will be responsible for generating sales, building and strengthening new business relationships with potential prospects and understanding the advisors book of business (goals, targets, AUM) while uncovering opportunities to recommend SSQ’s products. The Representative will also be involved in developing sales strategies, marketing concepts to provide support to the Wholesalers. This role combines proactive sales activities and valued added services through daily telephone contact with existing and new advisors in the region.

The Representative, also will provide exceptional service to our clients. You will answer inbound telephone calls and respond in a professional manner to customers, agents and advisors questions regarding individual life insurance products. You will need to adapt to different customer styles, making sure that each customer request or needs are fully understood and that appropriate actions are taken to meet or exceed customer expectations. You will also be responsible to fulfill administrative functions to support the Business Development Team.

We are looking for one outstanding individual to service the Ontario region for Insurance and Seg. Funds. The job is located at our Toronto office.

  • Achieve activity and sales targets, Sales activities are done through outbound and inbound communication with advisors.

  • Assist in the development and ongoing management of an annual business plan for the region.

  • Support the local sales activities of the Business Development Managers, leads, team meeting, sales events, industry seminars.

  • Become an expert in retail investment and strategies, including segregated funds and individual life products.

  • Develop strong relationship with advisors and Business Development Managers to ensure clients’ expectations are always exceeded.

  • Responsible for updating daily activities on the time management system.

  • Develop a daily call plan to ensure sales activities are met.

  • Promote SSQ’s brand, the products and the high quality service.

  • Answer all incoming calls from the toll free line and responsible for the customers inbox messages.

  • Provide administrative support to the Business Development Managers and provide insurance illustrations for advisors upon request.

  • Build and maintain business relationship with assigned MGAs, Advisor and team members.

  • Provide training to Advisors on products, website and illustration software.

  • Communicate with MGAs procedural changes to administrative practices, systems and advisor sites.

  • Maintain the MGAs distribution list

  • Provide Advisor kits and marketing materials for new and existing advisors

  • Issue CE Credits to advisors

  • Carry out any other clerical tasks as required

Required skills and knowledge:
Education
  • University degree would be preferable.

Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience of sales/marketing/call centre experience in the financial industry

  • Customer service experience, preferably for a life insurance company

  • High energy with attention to detail

Requirements
  • Understanding the sales process for the life insurance and investment advisor

  • Solid knowledge of financial services industry overall

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills

  • Exhibit professionalism within the workplace.

  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills

  • Appropriate phone etiquette

  • Ability to cope in fast-paced, demanding environment

  • Excellent command of spoken and written English, French would be an asset.

  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills with strong active listening skills-an entrepreneurial approach is key to the role

  • Successful completion of IFIC mutual funds course or other industry related courses such as CSC, CFP.

  • Strong knowledge of mutual fund and segregated funds

  • Coachable and open to ongoing sales training
