Our Personal Information Protection Policy underlines our commitment to protecting the information we manage and our compliance with applicable privacy legislation.

The nature of our business activities requires us to hold highly confidential information about our clients and employees. This is why we take our responsibility to protect your personal information seriously.

One policy for all employees
All employees of SSQ, Life Insurance Company Inc. who are involved in collecting, using or communicating personal information must comply with the provisions set out in our Personal Information Protection Policy.

We constantly monitor the integrity of our business practices in relation to your privacy through ongoing training programs and ensuring that the policy is available and readily accessible to employees and that they are informed of any updates. So every time you do business with SSQ, you know that your personal information is securely protected.

Personal information means...
Personal information means any information about a person that makes it possible to identify that person. Therefore, your name, age, gender, address, income, social insurance number, financial and medical information, among others, are all considered to be personal information.

Our responsibility
We recognize our responsibility for the personal information that is entrusted to us, including that which is transferred to a third party for processing purposes. Therefore, we have appointed a person who will be responsible for overseeing the application of our Personal Information Protection Policy and ensuring that our partners comply with the applicable privacy legislation in force.

Protecting your personal information
Our directives and the procedures we follow are designed to preserve the confidential nature of the personal information we handle, and our computer systems are also designed with data security in mind.

We safeguard the personal information entrusted to us with the most stringent security measures. These methods of protection which include physical measures, organizational measures and technological measures are continually updated and are subject to regular internal verification and independent audits.

Obtaining your consent and keeping you informed
We will ask you for your consent at the time we collect or use your personal information. We take reasonable care to ensure that you are always adequately informed as to the purposes for which your personal information will be used.

In the event that we need to use certain information you have provided us with for purposes you have not already been informed about, we will explain those purposes and ask you for your consent before using such information.

In such cases, we will provide you with the reasons for denying access to this information.

Correcting any inaccuracies
You may challenge the exactitude of the personal information held by SSQ about you and make a request in writing for any errors or inaccuracies to be rectified.

If you wish to file a complaint
Our principles for the proper management of personal information include procedures to receive and respond to complaints. If you are concerned or dissatisfied with how your personal information has been handled, you may share any comments or make a formal complaint in writing to the individual responsible for personal information protection at SSQ. You can be assured that we will address the issue without delay.
