financial services industry. Following is a list of some of these with links to their Web sites.

Assuris
Assuris is a non-profit organization, founded by companies operating in the
life and health insurance industry. Its mission is to protect Canadians against the loss of
their financial investments or insurance benefits due to the financial failure of a member
insurer of Assuris.
Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF)
The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory body that governs Quebec's financial sector.
The mission of the AMF, among other things, is to provide assistance to consumers of financial
products and services as well as to oversee the implementation of consumer protection and
compensation programs.
Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA)
The Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) is a voluntary trade
association that represents the collective interests of its member life and health insurers.
The association's membership accounts for 99% of life and health insurance policies in force
in Canada and administers about two-thirds of Canada's pension plans. The CLHIA offers consumers
a wide range of services related to life and health insurance as well as investment and
retirement products.
Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC)
The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is the national trade association of
non-government property and casualty (P&C) insurers, the private companies that insure the
cars, homes and businesses of Canadians. Member insurance companies provide about 90% of
the home, car and business insurance sold in Canada. IBC works with its member companies
to improve communications with the public and the government, the news media and other
industry associations.
OmbudService for Life & Health Insurance (OLHI)
The OmbudService for Life & Health Insurance (OLHI) is a national independent complaint resolution and information
service for consumers of Canadian life and health insurance products and services, including life, disability,
employee health benefits, travel, and insurance investment products such as annuities and segregated funds.
